Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com and today we're gonna take a brief look at this Firestone Replacement Heavy Duty Air Bag. This is going to replace one Heavy Duty Firestone Air Bag with the top plate number 3235 on your RV, and I want to give you some overall measurements so you can be confident this is going to work for you. But the best way for me to measure this so it'll stay a little bit more still is to lay it on its side. So I want to get it begin by giving you the overall height and I'm going to be measuring from the top of our mounting bolts here to the bottom of our piston mounting bolt here. So putting this across, lining this up here with my hands.
As you can see, we are sitting with our overall height right at about about 15-1/4" inches. And you can see the piston, what I'm calling the piston mounting bolt there at the bottom. So 15-1/4" for the overall height. Then the height from the top of the top plate to the bottom of our piston bottom, We are sitting right at 13-13/16" inches. And then the diameter of the top plate, we are at 9" inches.
And then lemme give you the measurements between the two mounting bolts there. It's gonna be a little bit easier for me to use my ruler at this point. So I'm gonna line this up as best as I can. Center to center, and it looks like we're sitting right at 5-1/2", center to center, and the inflation port is a 1/4" NPT. And then let me turn this around to the piston bottom, and give you the diameter there.
And we're sitting right at 9-1/2" on the diameter. And then the piston number as listed right here, which you're not gonna be able to see this probably, but the piston number is 9573. So this is a direct replacement from Firestone. So it's going to be of the same quality as your original. So you're not gonna have to worry about quality issues or anything like that since this is directly from Firestone.
So if this meets the specs that you are looking for, again, this is going to replace one Heavy Duty Firestone Air Bag with that top plate number of 3235 on your RV, then this is going to be exactly what you need. Well, that's going to conclude our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
I own a 2002 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome that was in need of rear airbags. I called etrailer to get help deciding which ones would fit our motorhome prior to ordering online. During the 30 minute phone call, the rep at etrailer put me on hold to call Firestone to make sure these airbags would fit. She said Firestone told her the original airbags for that motorhome were no longer available but verified that these should work on my motorhome so I ordered them. I have been a heavy equipment mechanic for over 55 years and have replaced many airbags over the years. I installed the two airbags on the motorhome and when I tested them neither airbag sat correctly on their mounting plates once they were inflated causing damage to one airbag mounting plate (see pic). When trying to return the airbags, I was told we could not return either airbag because they were already installed. After assuring them that the airbags were only installed but never actually used, I was given a refund for the undamaged bag, minus the shipping charges, but was stuck with the one that was damaged. I would never have bought these airbags had the rep not assured me they would fit. To lose $300 for believing in the rep's knowledge and information is extremely expensive and unfair. In the end, they only wanted the sale. I will never buy from them again, nor will I recommend them to anyone, especially since after this debacle we called Firestone ourselves and found out that they DO still carry the original airbags. So we lost $300 and the time it took to install them for absolutely nothing.
I wish it came with the bolts.
Thank you
