Video Transcript for Fulton A-Frame Trailer Coupler - Standard Coupler - FE443050303 Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number FE443050303. This is the Fulton A frame coupler. The A frame coupler is sturdy and very simple to use. It's going to provide your attachment point for your two and five sixteenth inch hitch ball. It's going to be made from a steel construction. It's going to have a black primed finish on it and this is a weld on design.

Right here, you're going to have your low profile latch. It's very easy to use, offers a nice, sleek appearance. In order to open up the mechanism here in the socket to receive your hitch ball, flip the latch up and then pull it back. Then, it's going to remain open, that way you can make your connection. See how that opens up the mechanism right there Then, to close it, simply lift it up and push it forward and it's going to drop back down and then that closes the mechanism around the hitch ball. It's going to have a small pin hole located in the latch, that way you can install a coupler lock system or a coupler pin.

That is going to be sold separately. The diameter of that hole's going to measure about five sixteenths of an inch and then when choosing a coupler pin or a coupler lock, you need to make sure that it has a span or usable pin length of about seven eighths of an inch. That's about the width of that latch right there. We're also going to have the built in jack attachment area. This is going to provide a convenient location for mounting your A frame utility jack. The large hole is going to give us a diameter, looks to be about two and five sixteenths of an inch, so that's going to be perfect for jacks that have a diameter on the outer tube of two and one quarter of an inch.

These mount holes are going to be separated on center. This one's about three and three sixteenths of an inch. This one right here is going to be about two and fifteen sixteenths of an inch. It's going to be the same for that measurement there. Now, a lot of those holes on your standard A frame jacks are going to have elongated holes, so this hole separation is designed to fit your standard three inch mount pattern for A frame jacks. Again, this unit's going to feature a nice steel construction.

You also got the lip that goes around the socket right here so potentially some of those socket locks that are out there on the market to help protect your unattended trailer, some of those would fit on this unit. You just have to check out those and see if they would fit on this particular coupler. Again, it is a weld on design. This is designed to fit the industry standard fifty degree A frame trailer frames. Your ball size on this unit's going to be two and five sixteenths of an inch and the capacity of this coupler is going to be ten thousand pounds. If we take a look at the overall length, measuring from the very front to the very back, we can see there that it's going to give us a measurement that looks to be about twelve and three quarters of an inch. That's going to do it for our review of part number FE443050303.

  • EZ Latch and Sleeve-Lock Trailer Couplers To Replace Latch Coupler on 2023 Intech Sol Horizon Camper
Based on your measurements it matches our Fulton 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler # FE443050303 which looks to be the same as what is on the 2024 Intech Sol Horizon from the videos I could find. So this would use either the EZ Latch # DM14793-81 or Sleeve-Lock # CA-5196-B coupler. Like you mentioned you will have to drill new holes to match your trailer mounts as they do not use a typical bolt on pattern.

  • Solution for Needing Shelby Coupler Repair Kit 5104
Hey Ed, we can help but we don't have repair kits for the Shelby A-Frame coupler you have. Best option would be to replace the coupler like with the Fulton A-Frame Coupler part # FE443050303 which also has a 2-5/16 inch ball size. We do not carry the Shelby brand at this time so we can't get any of their repair kits.

  • Replacement Coupler for Atwood AT88007 with Damaged Pin
I wish we could help but the coupler and it's repair kit that you need were both discontinued three years ago so we can't get either. Best option would be a new coupler like the Fulton part # FE443050303 which has the same trigger design, same 10k capacity, and also fits the 2-5/16 inch ball design as well.

  • Recommended Replacement Coupler For Wells Cargo Trailer That Has Coupler Missing Parts
I have a complete replacement option for you, but unfortunately we do not have any confirmed replacement parts for the coupler of your Wells Cargo Trailer. Instead I recommend going ahead and replacing the entire coupler with the Fulton 50-Degree A-Frame Coupler, 2-5/16" Ball, Low-Profile Latch, Primed Finish - 10,000 lbs # FE443050303 which has the same 10,000lb rating as your trailer. This coupler fits standard 50 degree A-frames which your trailer more than likely has, but I recommend...

  • Troubleshooting Fulton A-Frame Coupler That Is Not Latching Correctly On Hitch Ball
One of the biggest culprits that will not allow the latch to go down as far as it originally did is because there is dirt or debris in the mechanism. Also if it is really dry that can effect the latch. I first recommend checking for any signs of excess dirt or anything that would inhibit the latch. Then use a good lithium grease like part # L11354 and make sure all of the parts are well lubricated and working properly. Put some of the grease on the ball as well and try hooking and unhooking...

  • A-Frame Coupler Replacement for 1988 Argosy Airstream
Yes the Fulton A-Frame Coupler # FE443050303 that you referenced will work great to replace the coupler you have on your trailer. Trailer manufacturers all made the angles of the front of their trailer the same (50 degrees) which allows replacement couplers to be easily found like this Fulton.

  • Recommended Coupler Replacement for Custom A-Frame Trailer
The A-frame couplers are a standard 50 degrees angle from outside of frame rail to outside of frame rail where they come together to meet the coupler. The Fulton coupler # FE443050303 you mentioned will be a good replacement for most trailers as long as they fit within the 10,000 lb weight capacity. This coupler will give you a standard hole for a trailer jack as well as fits the standard 3 inch on center mounting holes of most jacks. Couplers like this are not rated for a rise or...

  • Weld On Coupler Recommendation for a Car Hauler
For your A-frame trailer the Fulton A-Frame Coupler part # FE443050303 would be an excellent choice. This has more than enough capacity at 10k total trailer weight and uses 2-5/16 inch hitch ball which is a more popular size ball for higher capacity towing setups like yours. This coupler would need to be welded on. I attached a link to a page that has all of our 2-5/16 inch hitch balls as well. You will need to select the diameter shank you need from the filters. You would need to measure...

  • Mounting Bracket for DL22530 A-Frame Trailer Jack
The jack already has a mounting bracket welded to it, as shown in the provided photo. If your trailer does't have a mounting plate, the easiest way to provide a plate would be to replace your coupler with something like # PSE338050303 for a 2 inch coupler, which has an integrated mounting plate for the trailer jack.

  • Recommended Coupler Lock for Low-Profile Trigger
For your A-frame coupler similar to the Fulton # FE443050303, I recommend the Trailer Coupler Lock - Deadbolt Style for Surge Brake with 2-1/2" Span # e98887. This lock will allow the ends of the lock to be on either side of the coupler giving you the compatibility with low profile trigger. Another option is the Master Lock Adjustable Trailer Coupler Lock - Stainless Steel # 2847DAT which will allow more of a custom fit.

  • Will Fulton Weld-on A-Frame Trailer Coupler Fit a 2002 Haulmark Grizzly Cub Trailer
Fulton A-frame coupler # FE443050303 is built to the industry standard 50 degree angle that nearly all A-frames are so it should fit your 2002 Haulmark trailer just fine. The latch is a typical latch that will hold itself open until you close it.

  • Converting a 2004 Tomahawk 10K Car Trailer to Electric Over Hydraulic Brakes
It sounds like you want to convert the surge brakes on your trailer to be used with an electric over hydraulic actuator. If that is the case then you will need an electric over hydraulic actuator, trailer wiring, breakaway, compatible brake controller, and new trailer coupler. The best electric over hydraulic actuator we offer is the HydraStar Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator. The reason for this is because they tend to last longer and have a quicker response time then their competitors....
