  • Sliding Fifth Wheel
  • Standard - Double Jaw
  • 15 - 18 Inch Tall
  • Double Pivot
  • 4000 lbs Vertical Load

Fifth-wheel trailer hitch provides excellent jaw-to-king-pin contact with a 2-jaw latching system. Square-tube slider helps to eliminate clearance concerns during slow-speed turns. Rails and installation kit included.

Features:

  • 2-Jaw locking system provides more jaw-to-king-pin contact than slide-bar models
    • Less rattle
    • Greater security
  • Square-tube slider provides clearance required for your short-bed pickup to turn safely at slow speeds
    • Prevents trailer from hitting the cab of your pickup during sharp, slow-speed turns
  • 4-Way pivoting head eases hookup on unlevel ground
  • 3" Height adjustment
  • Wide stance offers excellent stability
  • Black powder coat finish resists corrosion
  • Locking handle has cushioned grip
  • Above-bed rails and custom-fit mounting kit included

Specs:

  • Gross towing weight: 16,000 lbs
  • Vertical load limit: 4,000 lbs
  • Installed hitch height (including rails): 15" - 18"
  • Travel: 10" front to back
  • Limited lifetime warranty

Note: This fifth-wheel trailer hitch will not fit pickups with beds shorter than 6'. It also will not fit trucks with flareside/stepside bed. A minimum 13" extended trailer pin box is recommended.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Kwik-Slide Square-Tube Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, this roller helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a roller to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Reese Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal - RP30035 Review

Today we'll be reviewing part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. It is going to be a 10 bolt design. The base rails are going to provide necessary attachment points for your 5th wheel trailer hitch. The universal brackets are designed so that they fit most applications, and then the adapter brackets can be used to ease installation on certain vehicles. The kit's going to include both rails, four brackets, two larger ones with more mounting options, and then the two smaller ones, and it's going to include all the hardware that you need, all the instructions, and the fish wire that you just thread onto the end of the bolt, and you can bring it through the appropriate hole as needed. It makes it a little bit easier to get the bolts in the right place. Some compatible hitches are going to be Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Reese, Valley and Husky.

This does work with RBW Li'l Rocker Hitch Fifth Wheel Hitch. It will not fit the Reese Elite Series Signature Series or Valley UBS hitches. It's made from a nice solid steel construction with a nice black powder coated finish on it, so it is going to stand up well against rust and corrosion. That's going to do it for today's review of part number RP30035. This is the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches. .

  • Recommended 16,000 lbs 5th Wheel Hitch
Hey Lloyd that's an interesting measurement. All of our 5th wheel hitches like the 16,000 lbs Reese item # RP30047 fit standard 5th wheel rails spaced 22" on center front to back, which is actually closer to 21-13/16". You're awful close with 21-1/2" on center. What 5th wheel hitch are you currently using?

From the pictures you sent, it appears that your mounting holes just need to be cleaned. You need something like the Nylon Tube Brush - 3/8", part # 814113. Once the mounting holes have been cleaned, you should be able to use the 12mm bolts. i have included a product description link and a video review link below.

  • Semi-Custom and Custom Fifth Wheel Rail Kits that Fit 2017 Ram 2500 Short Bed
I have a similar solution for you but universal fifth wheel rail kits like the Curt # C16200 are not a fit for your truck. Instead you'd need a semi-custom fit kit part # RP30035-522 which has brackets that will fit your trucks frame. It still uses two L-brackets like a universal kit though. If you wanted to go with a full custom kit that wouldn't require any frame drilling you'd want instead the Reese kit part # RP50054-58.

Sometimes when a sliding hitch doesn't lock into position it's simply a matter of the legs being out of line so that the slider gets bound up. If this looks fine then there might be an issue with the springs that secure the locking arm. Check to see if you can easily move the locking arm...
