Backing into a site or maneuvering in tight spots gets easier with the automatic slider that moves up to 14" fore and aft every time you turn. The head glides smoothly toward the tailgate as you corner and then returns when you straighten out—no need to climb in and out to pull a handle or switch modes. It’s a simple mechanical design with no gears or small parts, just low-friction plates that do the work quietly and reliably.
The precisely laser-cut, wraparound jaw closes automatically around the king pin and locks the handle once it’s in place. The single-hook design gives full contact for a snug fit and less rattling compared to slide-bar styles. The self-locking hitch plate keeps hookup straightforward—back in, let it close, lock it if you want extra security, and you’re ready to roll.
The double-pivot head helps absorb bumps and angles front-to-back and side-to-side so the trailer tracks evenly behind the truck. That movement reduces chucking when you hit dips or rough pavement, keeping things steady for both driver and passengers. It’s one of those features you notice most after a few miles—it just feels more stable.
This hitch drops right into four receiver pucks and secures with top-mounted posts—no binding or tools needed. The head can be lifted off separately, with a removable weight of 40 lbs from a total base weight of 176 lbs, making it easier to clear your bed when you’re not towing. Setup is straightforward so you spend more time hauling and less time wrestling hardware.
Rated for 16,000 lbs gross towing weight and 4,000 lbs vertical load, this steel hitch is ready for long hauls with heavy fifth wheels. The black powder coat and e-coated finish fight corrosion from weather and road grime, while testing to the SAE J2638 standard ensures confidence mile after mile.

Perfect fit, I'd say so! When are you going to be able to take it out for its first tow, Tommy?

The new hitch looks fantastic in your truck! Also, thanks for sharing about the clearance with the fender wells. We have not heard that feedback yet so it will be helpful information to have and share.

Thanks for the awesome review, David! And that first sentence might be the best installation advice we’ve heard in a while. It’s great to hear the SuperGlide lived up to expectations and gave you the clearance and maneuverability you were looking for with the short bed setup. Sounds like you really put it through its paces too, from parking lot testing to highway driving. Thanks again for taking the time to share your experience, and happy trails and hope you have a great holiday weekend!

Glad every thing was nice and easy, CAS! And nice pictures too! You ever think about photography? What kind of 5th wheel are you going to be towing?

Overall, once the latching mechanism is well lubricated with WD40, as recommended, and after bending the trigger pin and breaking it off Pullrite sent me a replacement part quickly, and learning from Pullrite the best way to back the pinbox up to the hitch is to have the capture plate at a height near the bottom of the hitch plate and lit it slide up as you back into the hitch, will trigger the mechanism easily. And that certain works well now. I wish there was a way to raise the height of the hitch head, as we had trailer interference on the pickup bed on a tight turn where the truck was articulated uphill from the nose of the trailer. I am going to try lowering my trailer pinbox and see if I can get better clearance. That mishap cost me $3,200 in body repairs. Make sure you check you trailer nose clearance to the bed rails .. and after learning a hard lesson, you should be looking at a 5-6 inch clearance at a minimum when level. Overall, I do love the hitch!! And Pullrite was extremely responsive to my questions and need for a new replacement part.

Do you have a question about this 5th Wheel Hitch?
