Since your 2008 Ford F-350 is a short bed I recommend going with a slider hitch so you will have more clearance between trailer and truck cab when making tight turns.
The slider hitches that offer the most travel are the Demco HiJacker auto-sliders, # DM8550022 for below the bed rail kit # DM8551000, or # DM8550034 for above the bed rail kit # DM8552002-71. These hitches also have the benefit of sliding automatically. This means you won't have to get in an out of the truck repeatedly to operate a sliding mechanism.
For something a bit more cost effective I recommend a Curt 16K hitch # C16521 with install kit # C16448-204. This hitch offers 12 inches of travel but does not slide automatically. It does feature a cushioned head though for improved ride quality.
And for the 5th wheel tower on a budget take a look at the Reese 16K slider # RP30051 with universal installation kit # RP30035. This set up offers 10 inches of travel and the head is not cushioned. It is a manually operated slider. The installation kit does require drilling into the truck frame as well.
I also recommend adding an in-bed 7-Way trailer connector, # 50-97-410, to make hooking up easier without the need of an extension.
