This hitch is rated for 25,000 lbs gross towing weight and a 6,250 lbs vertical load limit. The solid steel construction with a durable carbide powder coat finish gives it the backbone to haul heavy fifth wheels with confidence. That strength, paired with the interlocking 2-jaw system, keeps the king pin locked in for 360-degree contact so the connection feels tight and secure mile after mile.
The hitch head pivots on a spherical axial bearing that allows full 360-degree movement. That design lets the trailer move naturally through bumps and dips without the noisy clunking or harsh feedback you get with less flexible hitches. The torsion head helps suppress road shock and towing noise, giving a calmer, more stable ride when you’re hauling big weight across rough highways or uneven sites.
Before you pull away, you can see exactly what’s happening with the jaws. The three-point indicator system shows red when uncoupled, yellow when ready to couple, and green when locked for towing. You can spot it from inside the cab or by the handle itself. It takes out the guesswork and helps make coupling and uncoupling more controlled and predictable every time you hook up.
The included S25 slider provides 12" of fore and aft travel to give your trailer the space it needs during slow turns. It moves smoothly in both directions without binding, helping prevent cab contact during sharp maneuvers in lots or campgrounds. Once you slide it into place, it automatically latches so you can stay focused on positioning instead of climbing in and out to reset locks.
When it’s time to clear out your bed, the head lifts off fast with a single pin. That simple release lets one person break down the hitch without special gear, making storage or switching setups easier. Grease fittings are built in for quick lubrication, so keeping everything moving smoothly is just as straightforward as taking it apart when you’re done towing.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails. Now, these base rails will install in your truck bed. And they provide the necessary attachment points for your fifth wheel hitch installation. Now, when these rails are used with the CURT's Custom Mounting Brackets, which we sell separate on a website, these rails will cut in half the time it takes to install your fifth wheel trailer hitch.
We mentioned the finish on this. I'm gonna zoom in and sort of show it. It's a carbide black finish, sort of like a matte black finish, so it matches the finish if you use it on the CURT Q5 20K Fifth Wheel Hitch. Now, these rails are universal, so they will work with the following fifth wheel hitches. They work with the CURT brand, the Draw-Tite, the Hidden Hitch, the Reese, and even the Husky.
This part here will include the two base rails. Now, we mentioned the mounting brackets, the custom mounting brackets, the hardware, and an installation kit is all sold separately. The length on these rails, if we put a tape measure on them from one end to the other, right at 43 inches long. But that should do it for the review on the CURT Universal Carbide Black Finish Fifth Wheel Base Rails.

So here's my thoughts after installing this unit. First, the unit is made in the USA (according to their website) but al the bolts used are metric. Second, the installation instructions are generic and are mostly for a fixed hitch versus the sliding hitch, so you have to guess on assembly of some items. Also, you pay close to $[XX] for this unit and they go cheap and do not provide any lubricating grease that "they" recommend you apply. $[XX] purchase and could not include 10 cents worth of grease. Finally, the torque specs are listed but the bolt locations are not shown with pictures, just a name which you need to guess. This can be problematic since the torque specs range from 60 ft lbs up to 200ft lbs. Choose the wrong one and you break a bolt off.

Good hitch heaven duty
I order the items I need and they were immediately placed for delivery. I received hitch and slide quickly. Packages were shipped with care. Excellent instructions.
Fast delivery. Everything went good with installation. Some of the bolt locations are difficult to get to so a few more nuts with welded handles would make it easier. Matched up great with my B&W patriot 5th wheel
Fit good. Definitely easier if I would have had a hoist and it takes 2 people to get the 4 hex head bolts in. But turned out great.
