You will need a brake controller, a 7-Way adapter and a brake control wiring adapter to complete the installation of trailer brakes on your 2002 Dodge Ram.
Start by plugging in the brake control adapter, item # 3020-P, into the OEM harness located under the steering wheel, just to the right of the emergency brake pedal. Next locate the wire connector on the drivers side right behind the front wheel well under the hood. Use a circuit tester, item # 3808 if needed, and locate the wire that supplies power to the trailer brakes. Usually it is the blue one. Splice a wire lead from the blue wire to the back of the vehicle and connect it to the blue wire on the 7-Way trailer adapter, item # 37185. Plug the 4-Way connector on the adapter into the 4-way on the vehicle and ground the white wire. Finally, connect a power wire to the positive post of the vehicle battery through a 40 amp circuit breaker, item # PK54540.
I would recommend the Tekonsha P2 with Dodge Adapter, item # 90885 and # 3020P, because it works great and is easy to set up.
