Replacement 5-Wire Switch For a Lippert Slide-Out
Question:
Hello, Im having an issue with my trailer slide not going in on my travel trailer. The slide is currently in the out position. If I press the slide out button, I can hear the motor engage. I also hear the switch button click. When I press the slide in part of the button, there is no engagement by the motor and I dont hear the same haptic type of click as I do when I press the slide out part of the button. This leads me to believe its a problem at the switch. The original switch is a 5 wire switch. When I went on the internet to find a replacement, 4 wire switches were basically all that was available. I ended up getting a Lippert Components 117461 4 wire switch. I tried to hook up the 4 wire switch according to some diagrams that I found in the comments section. After hooking it up, something didnt seem right and there was a bunch of heat transfer that happened on the wire. It also didnt engage the motor when I pressed slide out, so I unhooked it right after I saw it wasnt working. Seems like the way I wired it was incorrect. If you look at the attached pic, that is the original wiring and also how I wired the new switch. Ive verified the far right cable coming out the wall has power with a multi-meter. I believe the far left black wire is the ground with the two white cables going to it. The multi-meter read ~ 13.8 volts when I tested it so I dont think its a power supply issue. Is my wiring wrong? How could I narrow down what the problem is? Thanks for your time and help!

More than likely the issue is coming from using a 4-wire switch # LC117461 on a 5-wire set-up.
We do have a 5-wire switch available, which will allow you to wire it up how it needs to be wired.
