How Can I Tell If My 5th Wheel Is 30 Amp or 50 Amp?
Question:
Our 5th Wheel cord has 4 wires but the plug that was attached only has 3 prongs so we are trying to replace just the head of the plug but the new head we bought does not have a place for 4 wires , very confused everything i find online says the plug is a 30amp but the 4 wires says that its a 50amp ? and i believe our 5th wheel is only a 30amp not 50 so did we somehow get a wrong cord when we purchased the 5th wheel ? and what can be done to fix it cause our plug in receptical is a 30amp ? how can i tell if my 5th wheel is a 30 or 50 amp ?

Generally for RV Plugs a 4 wire would mean 50 amp. Unless someone made modifications to your 5th wheel at some point, I cannot think of a reason why there would be a 4 wire 30 amp plug. Usually we can look at the cord to determine if your 5th wheel is 30 amp or 50 amp. If you can send pictures of your distribution box and plug I should be able to identify it. Or you could always try contacting a dealership with your VIN if you are unsure. If you need to replace a 30 amp cord we have the # A10-3025END which is a 3 wire 3 prong hardwire plug.
