Recommended Class V Hitch for a 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD w/ a 6 Foot Bed
Question:
Looking for replacement class 5 hitch for my 2002 chevy 2500HD crew cab 6.5 bed. The rear bumper failed and caused factory hitch to fail as well. Looking at getting away from that set up as I replace the hitch and rear bumper.

The best class V hitch for your 2002 Silverado 2500 is going to be the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C15703. This hitch is custom fit for the 2500 HD's with the 6-1/2' beds and bolts to your truck with included hardware.
This hitch has a 2-1/2" receiver and is made in the USA. It has a 18,000 lbs towing capacity and a 2,700 lbs maximum tongue weight. This hitch can be used with weight distribution systems but they will not increase its capacity.
I have linked an installation video below.
If you need a 2" receiver then you'll want the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C15302. This also fits the 2500HD's with a 6-1/2' bed. It does have a slightly lower towing capacity at 16,000 lbs but it is still a class V.
