How To Find Correct Replacement Hubs for Skeeter SX2250 Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2016 Skeeter SX2250 with a Skeeter/EZ Loader trailer that needs new brakes. It currently has a surge brake setup and Vault integrated hub/rotors on the tandem torsion axles. Im looking to install a Kodiak slip on disc brake system and would like to convert the integrated hub/rotors to a separate dedicated hub and slip on rotors. This way I can keep my cost down on the initial project by purchasing the kit with SS calipers and upgrade to stainless steel rotors a few years down the road. Which galvanized hubs fit this trailer and what components would be required in addition to the hubs? Im planning to convert from surge to EOH during this project as well.

I have a few options for you to help with identifying the correct hubs on your trailer. The first and easiest method would be to crawl under the trailer and look for the axle tag on the beam. This should give an axle capacity which we can then use to find the correct hubs. The Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly part # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K for example is for 3,500 lb axles and uses L68149 and L44649 bearings.
The other option would be to take the hubs off the trailer and either read the part numbers off the old bearings or measure them with a dial caliper to the nearest thousandth of an inch. I have attached an article that goes over this process in more detail.
I have also attached a few links with lists of our bearing and hub selection.
In regards to the disc brakes, these are also specific to the axle capacity. If it's a 3,500 lb axle for example we have the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit part # K2R35D for dacromet or part # K2R35DS for stainless.
