Question:
I have 2x3 galv axles with idler hubs and want to convert to disc brakes. The dacromet rotors with ss calipers is my choice but I herd that 1/2 inch is added in width when adding the rotors. What happens then with the brake plate found on my axles? Will the pads and caliper alligne?

Helpful Expert Reply:
There is some additional width added when using the slip-over rotors like # K2R35DS. This is true on every application that uses this set up. The brackets and calipers are designed for this so they will line up just fine. The wheels and tires will just be 1/2 inch further out on each side.
You will need to make sure that your existing axles have brake mounting flanges in order to add brakes to the trailer. If you do not have a 4-bolt mounting flange on each end of the axle, # 4-35, you will need to have them welded on by a qualified professional with experiencing in adding brake mounting flanges. It is a precision job because the flanges have to be perfectly square and concentric.
