Question:

I need four wheel bearing kits for Dexter D44- 4400# axles, Dexter 605308 #8437302, are the numbers on the axle labels. All I see on your site are for 3500# axles.

We do have the exact bearings, races, and grease seal you need for your 4,400 lb Dexter axle, and while there isn't a single kit with the parts, you can get them all individually. What you will need are the following:

Bearings # L68149 and # LM67048

Races # L68111 and # LM67010

Grease Seals # RG06-050

I reviewed how to find parts for the Lippert 4400# axel - and others various - and via Lippert and etrailer, I think this is the kit that was appropriate, per both: Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle - BK2-100. On the Lippert site it does not show the 4400#, but their customer service confirms it is the same as their 3,500 lb. Thanks for oall the eT tech service! .

@Mark Yeah the 4,400 lb axle is a quirky one for finding replacement bearings. It looks like Dexter's 4,400 lb axle use the bearings I mentioned but the Lippert version uses the 3,500 lb bearing combo.

@JamesonC Yep - it has to be quirky of :Lippert does not even list their 4400# axel on their own site. I am working on replacing the bearing and have pulled the break away cable after lifting the first tire, and it still spins. The battery is charged. Break issue? It should stop the tire from spinning - yes?

@Mark If you have a circuit tester handy like the part # PTW2993 I would probe the wires on both sides of the switch to see if the switch is allowing current to pass through it and apply the trailer brakes. I would suspect something electrical but it could possibly be related to the brake assemblies.
