Question:
Hi. So I want to put a hitch on my car and use it with a manual wheelchair carrier. I have a 2017 VW Jetta SE 4 door, I see you make 2 hitches for my car. The wheelchair is about 70 lbs. The carrier is about 24. What is the maximum weight that can be carried on the hitch once mounted to the car?

Expert Reply:
While we don't manufacture the trailer hitches, just sell them, you are correct that there are two that fit your 2017 Volkswagen Jetta:
- Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11474
- Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24926
Once installed on your Jetta, both hitches have a maximum tongue weight (the amount a carrier and its cargo can be) of 200 lbs. They have a 1-1/4 inch receiver and are Class I hitches, so all of its accessories also need to be Class I compatible.
Since these hitches have the same capacity and are essentially the same in regards to clearances and install, I recommend just going with the one that is the least expensive to save yourself some cash. I have added links below to video installs for you to check out as well.
