Replacement Bearings and Seals for Converting 8K Oil Bath Dexter Axle to Grease
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I have a 2008 Gooseneck Mfg. stock trailer that has triple Dexter 8K axles. 2 of the axles are the original oil bath hubs. I want to convert them to grease hubs. can you provide the part numbers for new seals, and the bearing buddy that will screw into the existing hubs in place of the oil cap?

I believe I was able to find the bearings and seals that you need, but you'll want to double check on your end by removing the hub and looking at part numbers just to make sure.
Inner Bearing - # 25580
Inner Race - # 25520
Outer Bearing - # 02475
Outer Race - # 02420
Grease Seals - # RG06-070 (2.250" ID and 3.376" OD)
When it comes to the oil bath caps from what I could find yours should be part # RG04-230 which has an OD of 2.875" and nothing we have is that fits that. Since this is the case it might be worth just getting entirely new hub/drums for which I recommend the etrailer # AKHD-865-8-K. This would then allow you to use the Chrome Plated # BB2717 or Stainless Steel # BB2717SS Bearing Buddy setup.
Please note that you'll want to make sure you get all of the oil cleaned off because oil and grease don't play nice together and can actually cause internal harm to your hub if it isn't cleaned.
