In order to install a 7-way trailer connector on a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 you have a few options which will be dependent on if the truck was equipped with a factory 7-way trailer connector or not. If so, then you can use the 7-Way Pre-Wired Car Connector part # 20023 which will require splicing on the new pigtail. If not, you'll need both the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118329 and the 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat Adapter part # ETBC7 which is mostly plug-n-play.
I wish I could give you exact wire colors for models with the factory 7-way but we don't have any schematics for this so you need to test each of the wires on the rear of the vehicle while the signals are active so you can identify the circuit with a circuit tester.
