Trailer Hitch with Best Ground Clearance for 2008 Honda Element EX AWD
Question:
2008 Honda Element EX AWD. Which hitch has the most ground clearance. Type 1 will be sufficient but could use type III if it has more clearance. Also. I have a number of Dead Bolt receiver and coupler lock sets that use key number five 005. can you provide a lock set for the recommended hitch that uses the same key.

All of the trailer hitches available for your 2008 Honda EX are going to have pretty similar ground clearance measurements but your best option will be with the etrailer # e78KR. The 2 inch receiver on this hitch will pretty much sit right up against the bottom of the rear bumper on your Element (see attached image).
This Class III hitch will require drilling for installation and it has a 3,500 pound towing weight capacity and a 350 pound tongue weight limit. I have attached an install video that you can use for reference along with the written instructions.
Even if you don't think you will use the higher capacities on a Class III hitch like this its larger 2 inch receiver will open the door to many more compatible accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. I highly suggest the 2-inch reciever of the 1-1/4". I have attached a couple of links that will take you to our available selection.
For a Hitch and Coupler Lock Set that will work great with this hitch you can use the etrailer.com # e99039. This set can be ordered keyed alike (meaning that you can order multiple sets and they will all use the same key) but unfortunately, we cannot match one up to an existing key number like your 005.
