Troubleshooting Wobble with Swagman XC Bike Rack
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
The receiver bar fits into the receiver just fine. Very snug. However, the part that holds the bike attached to the receiver bar wobbles. I did the following: Tighten the two set-screws to secure the receiver bar tight against the square section. It wobbles. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this? I can try to over tighten the set screws to see if that works. Thanks Swagman XC

For your Swagman XC 2-Bike Rack Platform Style # S64650, the hitch pin that came with the rack or the Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable # S64031 may need to be tightened. I recommend moving the rack up and down slightly as you tighten that threaded bolt. That should secure the shank to your hitch.
The two set-screws you mentioned connecting the crossbar to the shank, will only tighten so much and you do want to be careful not to strip the threads. If you have wobble of bikes side to side, you may need to adjust your wheel hoops to ensure your bikes are better balanced on the rack. Unfortunately the remaining wobble will remain based on the design of the rack, so other than using Loctite Threadlocker like # LT37420 on the bolts to secure them so they don't rattle loose, there isn't much more you can do other that adding a stability strap like # 18050. I've attached a video to assist.
