Troubleshooting Curt Triflex Brake Controller Displaying Numbers When No Trailer Is Connected
Question:
I installed the Curt Triflex in a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado using the Curt adapter. The installation and setup were easy. Should the controller display brake setting numbers without a trailer connected but when the truck brake is applied? Thank you.

Your Curt Triflex # C24VV should not display anything but a single dot when the trailer is not connected. You are getting numbers when your apply your brakes because there is a draw on the brake controller output wire. The controller sees that power draw as a trailer being connected. I recommend you clean your trailer connector on your truck as sometimes dirt or corrosion can cause a small draw from the other pin functions. You can use sand paper, steel wool, or even an old toothbrush to clean up that connection. The I recommend using some dielectric grease # 11755 to keep the connection clean of debris and moisture.
If the problem continues, I recommend checking your ground connection and then using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check for a short.
