Recommended Options for 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Ball Mount and Rock Tamers Mud Flaps
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I purchased one of these C45456. It is a great product. I have a set of Rocktamers I want to use with it, But unfortunately there is not enough shaft sticking out from the receiver. Do you have another one just longer length from pin out. Or can I just drill a second pin hole back about 1 inch from existing pin hole.

The Curt # C45456 has a length of 8-1/2" from center of hitch pin hole to center of ball hole. To allow you to us the Rock Tamers you have, I recommend the Gen-Y 2-Ball Mount for 2-1/2" Hitches # 325-GH-064 which has a 9-1/2 inch center to center measurement but has a different shape to allow for the better fit. I don't know if your Rocktamers will fit with the extra 1 inch with the different shape or not, but wanted you to have all your options.
The Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 7" Long # HR26 is another option but then you will need to use a 2 inch ball mount and your tongue weight capacity, not your towing capacity will be reduced by 50%. Then you could use any 2 inch ball mount like # C45036.
A final option is to use the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 and an long ball mount like # BM20. This will not reduce the tongue weight of your hitch and will give you 13-1/4" from center of hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the ball platform piece. This will guarantee the fit of your Rock Tamers, but you would need to use the Replacement Hub for Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System for 2" Hitches # ERT034 for compatibility.
