Yes, even if you do not plan on much marine activity, you can still benefit from adding Bearing Buddies, # BB1980A-SS. They will help to prevent wheel bearing failure by keeping out dirt and moisture, something that all trailers will come across.

Adding grease to the bearings will be much easier as you will have a fitting on the caps that will allow you to add grease with a grease gun like # L30191. And the blue ring will allow you to know when to add grease. All of this will help extend the life of the bearings.

Bearing Buddies are a great way to keep grease in a trailer hub. I recommend them as long as you are aware that it's very easy to put too much grease in a hub with these which will blow out the seal. They have no problem being used on longer road…

Bearing Buddy does have a size that is slightly smaller than the 1.98 inch one you already tried with the #BB1968 or stainless steel #BB1968SS. It's .012 of an inch smaller in diameter which sounds like exactly what you are looking for.

Hey Darrel, we actually have exactly what you are looking for with the part #TRU52FR which is for a 7k axle and is 25-1/4 inch from eye to eye. This is also a 6 leaf spring as well. The spring you referenced would be too short.
