Location of Brake Controller Plug on a 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport Off-Road w/Factory Tow Package
Question:
I do not have the type dash in the pictures. I have the no key push button start and do not have that dash layout. Could it be behind the 120 volt bed power push button on the left of the column?

Great news! I can help you find the brake controller harness on your truck.
Since you have a factory tow package on your 2016 Toyota Tacoma you will have a plug for a brake controller in your dash. According to the instructions on the # 3031-P harness for the Proportional Brake Controller P3 # 90195, which I highly recommend, the plug is located above the driver kick panel. I have linked the full set of instructions for the # 3031-P adapter to this page for your convenience.
For a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha P3 # 90195, because of its easy user interface. The P3 is a proportional brake controller which means it senses how the tow vehicle is slowing or stopping and applies the trailer's brakes with the same intensity. It also has a full display screen instead of codes that need deciphering. The Tekonsha P2 # 90885 is like the P3's little brother, it has all the great qualities but doesn't have the display of the P3.
I have linked all the above mentioned parts to this page for your convenience.
