Question:
Im towing a 2014 Livin-Lite all aluminum 21ft RV trailer with loaded weight of 3600lbs and tongue weight of about 500-600lbs. I still need to check the tongue weight to be sure how much. I have read some of the questions and answers about the Timbren TDR-1500DQ and Coil Sumo springs enhancement product CSS-1145R. Im not sure which one would help reduce the squat in the truck when hooked up to trailer as one answer said it would not help and to go with weight distribution hitch. The truck squats down about 1.5 to 2 inches depending on weight in truck and trailer. The RV trailer MFR does not recommend using a weight distribution hitch due to the aluminum main frame. Im going to take some measurements real soon to see exactly how the trailer sits and how much squat with different amounts of gear is in the truck and trailer. The truck also has a Jason Fiberglass Cap on the 6ft bed and its flat on top, same height as the truck cab. Which product would help with the squat when trailer is hooked up? Do you have any recommendations?

Expert Reply:
Normally weight distribution is the best option when squat is caused by a coupled trailer. But since the manufacturer of the trailer specifically said not to use it the next best option would be suspension enhancement for your 2014 Ram 1500.
I do recommend the Timbren springs # TDR1500DQ because they do work well. They may allow the suspension to travel some before they engage but the squat should be reduced if not eliminated. I have included a link to a video showing installation of these springs and a link to our help article on Timbren springs for you.
