Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack that Will Not Interfere With the Rear Door of a 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Question:
Spare tire has a rear mounted camera so the spare tire racks do not look like they will fit. I have a 2 hitch but am worried about the clearance of the various racks when opening the door because it opens to the left, not up. Any advice on what rack would have proper clearances. I like the Swagman XTC

The best solution for your 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser is to use a rack like the Yakima FullSwing 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Swing Away Rack, # Y02465. This rack will swing completely out of the way of the rear door, giving you access to the cargo area of the vehicle. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review below.
For this or any rack, there is an important measure you can take to determine if the rack will clear the spare tire. Measure from the center of the hitch pin hole, straight out to the distance required to clear the spare tire. The above rack will fit if this measurement is less than 9-1/2 inches.
For another option the Swagman XTC-2, # S64670, measures 17 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright bar. The center arm of this rack can be folded down when no bikes are on it, allowing you to open the rear door on your FJ Cruiser. I have included a link to the installation details and a video review below.
