Expert Answers about Hitch Bike Racks

  • 4 Bike Rack that Can Carry Fat Bike and Bike that Weighs 60 lbs
  • For a 4 bike platform rack that can accommodate a fat bike with 4 inch wide tires plus a bike that weighs up to 60 lbs you would want the Thule T2 Classic 4 Bike Platform Rack # TH9044-TH9046. This would basically be the only option we have as most racks don't have the weight capacity of this rack. To be on the safe side you would have to somehow remove 1 lb from the weight of your bike so that it does not exceed the 60 lb weight capacity of the rack.

  • Hitch Bike Rack Recommendation for 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that Swings Out with Bikes Loaded
  • I have a solution for you, but the hinges of your rear door on your 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited aren't rated for the additional weight of a rack and bikes. Instead you would want to go with a hitch mounted option that can swing out and away from the rear of the vehicle with bikes loaded. The Thule Vertex Swing part # TH9031XT would be perfect for this. I attached a review video that shows this rack being used on a very similar 2015 Wrangler Unlimited. For a hitch you then would want...

  • Will the Kuat NV Hold a Road Bike with Fenders.
  • Your road bike with fenders will technically work with the Kuat NV # N101 but we have heard of damage occurring to the fenders when using a bike rack which holds down on the wheels, so I do not recommend the Kuat NV for your bikes. However, I do recommend the Thule Doubletrack Platform Style Rack # TH990XT. This rack secures the bikes on the frame and will not interact with or damage your fenders. This hitch fits 1-1/4" hitches and 2" hitches. The Doubletrack can also tilt down for...

  • Will SportRack Ridge Swing SR2415 Prevent Rear Doors of Ford E350 Van From Opening
  • To determine if the back door(s) of your E350 will still open with the SportRack Ridge Swing # SR2415 installed, measure the distance from the top inside of the hitch opening to the bottom of the rear door of your van. If this distance is greater than 4-1/2 inches, the SportRack Ridge Swing would work just great for you. If you click the provided link, you can see a demonstration video of the Ridge Swing.

  • Height from Hitch Pin Hole to Top of Arms on Yakima FullTilt 5 Hitch Bike Rack Y02463
  • On the Yakima FullTilt 5 Hitch Bike Rack # Y02463 the vertical distance from the hitch pin hole up to the top of the arms is 41-inches according to my contact at Yakima. When you have bikes loaded overall height will increase based on the diameter of the bikes' top tubes. For instance, if you loaded a bike with a 2-inch top tube, then the top of that frame tube would be approximately 43-inches above the hitch pin hole. Please note that your vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Corolla, cannot accept...

The new Sherpa is lighter (by 8 lbs for a total weight of 32 lbs), has updated wheel cradles and updated wheel hooks as well. • Compatibility of Thule Vertex 2 Bike Rack on 2008 Cadillac Escalade w/ Vertical Receiver Hitch
  • I believe you're speaking of a hitch with a vertical receiver tube, instead of the usual horizontal receiver tube. If this is the case, and the hitch has a 2 inch x 2 inch inside dimension, the Curt # C45013 Vertical Receiver Adapter might be what you're needing to use the bike rack. To determine if the # C45013 would work, you'd need to find the hitch pin hole in the vertical receiver, and measure downward from the center of the hitch pin hole until you clear the bottom of the rear bumper....

  • Recommended Anti-Rattle Devices for Bike Rack and Hitch Adapter
  • Use of any type of hitch adapter to allow installation of one size of accessory in another size of hitch is going to result in more random motion of the accessory item; in your case this is your bike rack. The longer this distance is the more leverage is applied to the hitch tube and that leads to more motion. Another...

  • Will Yakima FullSwing be Compatibile with Factory 2 Inch Trailer Hitch on a 2016 Volvo XC90?
  • There are a couple things you will want to check out to ensure that the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 is the correct bike rack for your factory hitch on your Volvo XC90. First thing you check is that you will have enough bumper clearance. This measurement is the distance from the center of your hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper. The FullSwing requires a 9 inch of bumper clearance or less. I have linked a help article to this page for better assistance in determining this on your...

This will help us determine if the Curt hitch # C13068, you were looking at will give us enough distance to clear the bumper of your Odyssey. This platform rack is one of the nicest on the market due how it will only touch the bikes you carry at the tires, it's relative light weight for a platform bike rack at 49 lbs. The other thing is that Subaru factory 1-1/4 inch hitches have the pin hole very close to the hitch opening. This means that not all bike racks will fit the hitch well....

What will block those things would be the bikes. The weight of a bike rack plus 4 to 5 bikes is pretty heavy, you would want to ensure that the hitch you made is well reinforced. A hanging bike rack would have the least amount of rack in the way of the headlights/radiator/headlights. For a...
