Expert Answers about Hitch Bike Racks

  • Can Girl's Bike Frames Be Carried on the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR
  • Girls and womens bikes typically don't have a crosstube that is level. Typically it is at a hard angle which makes attaching to a hanging bike rack a challenge. Thankfully there is an adapter designed for bikes like this. The part # UB01 attaches to the steering stem of the bike and the seat post to provide a horizontal attachment point for the rack. I attached a review video that shows how this adapter works as well. This will work great on the Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2015 Ford Fusion Hybrid for Yakima LiteRider
  • Since the hitches we offer for your 2015 Ford Fusion are the same price I would recommend the Draw Tite part # 24897 over the Curt because it does not require a stabilizer strap like the Curt does when carrying a bike rack like the LiteRider part # Y02472 that you referenced. This hitch is a fit for your vehicle and would work well just like in the video for the # Y0247 that you referenced that I also attached. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without...

  • How to Easily Carry a Bike on a 2011 Toyota Rav4 Sport
  • I recommend installing a trailer hitch on your 2011 Toyota RAV4 and using a platform bike rack to easily carry your mountain bike on your vehicle. For a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite 2" Class III Trailer Hitch # 75235. I recommend this hitch because you will not have to use stabilizing straps to stay within Curt's warranty requirements when carrying all non trailer loads, like bike racks. This trailer hitch has a tongue weight capacity of 675 lbs, but you are limited by your...

I have chosen a handful of my favorite racks that are easy to put on and take off to give you a couple of style and price options. • Can Cargo Carrier Be Added to Hollywood Racks HR1400-85 When Configured as a 4-Bike Rack
  • The Hollywood Racks # HR1400-85 would include the 2-bike rack/cargo carrier plus the +2 bike add on. You can use the rack as a 4 bike rack or as a combination 2 bike rack/cargo carrier. You cannot add the basket and carry 4 bikes, because the basket won't fit on the end of the 2 bike add-on. If it were somehow possible to add the basket onto rack when it's configured for 4 bikes, there'd be way too much leverage applied to the hitch which could damage the hitch or its attachment points...

  • Will the Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack Fit a 2015 Subaru Forester with 2 Inch Trailer Hitch
  • Depending on the hitch brand you have on your 2015 Subaru Forester it looks like the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the rear bumper is 3 to 5 inches. The Swagman Dispatch bike rack # S64684 measures 12 inches from the center of the pin hole to the closest part of the rack so it will clear the rear of the vehicle with room to spare! I have included a link to a video review of this bike rack on a 2015 Subaru Forester for you.

  • Recommended RV-Rated Hitch Bike Racks for 5th Wheel Trailer
  • You will want to select an RV-rated hitch bike carrier for use on the back of your 5th wheel trailer. Standard bike racks made for use on cars and SUVs are not suitable for use on a trailer due to the additional stresses found at the rear of such vehicles. The extra stress results from the greater distance between the rear axle and the hitch. This extra distance translates into more leverage on the rack, and a regular rack made for cars could be destroyed by the forces at the back of a...

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon with 1-1/4 inch Hitch
  • For your 2016 Subaru Forester with a factory hitch the Yakima Holdup part # Y02445 would be an excellent choice that we would highly recommend. This platform rack is one of the nicest on the market due how it will only touch the bikes you carry at the tires, it's relative light weight for a platform bike rack at 49 lbs. Plus, the Hollywood Racks you like isn't a confirmed fit for your 2011 Volkswagen Routan so I can't recommend it. • Can a Thule T2 Bike Rack for 1-1/4 Inch Shank be Adapted to Fit in a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver

The best and safest way is to replace the shank assembly with the 2 inch version, # 753-3581. If you find the above method to be cost-prohibitive then the other option is to use a reducer sleeve, # HT02. The Swagman XC bike rack, part # S64650 has an angled shank that will raise the bike rack up by 4 inches. It measures 4-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest rail when folded. This is not enough to clear the bumper on your RX 350. • Bike Rack Recommendation that Can Safely be Used at the Back of a 5th Wheel Trailer
  • There are only certain bike racks that are rated for use at the back of a trailer. None of the Thule bike racks are rated for this application because they are not designed to withstand the additional stress associated with the bumpy ride at the back of a trailer. I have included a link to the bike racks that are rated for use at the back of a trailer. If your trailer bumper is 4 inches square, steel, and welded the entire length of the bumper then you can use # S80600 which you can...

You would have to carry 2 bikes on the roof as well since the Class I hitches for your vehicle like the part # 24787 can only carry up to 2 bikes. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Roadway 2 part # TH912XTR. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out...

With this removed the rack would tilt down. I attached a picture that has a red arrow that shows where the pin is. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well.

The Draw-Tite hitch is a good fit for your Camry, I've included an installation video for you to see. I recommend looking at the Thule Roadway 2 Bike Rack # TH912XTR which is a great fit. This bike rack will fit over a 2-inch ball mount shank and holds bikes that weigh up to 40-lbs each with tires up to 3-1/2 inches wide and a wheelbase up to 52-inches.
