  • Platform Wheel Mount Bike Rack Recommend for 29 inch Wheel 48 inch Wheelbase Bike that Weighs 60 lb
  • I have a rack that I can guarantee will work, the Thule T2 # TH916XTR can work on bikes with tires that are up to 29 inches in diameter, have a wheelbase of up to 48 inches, and has a weight capacity of 60 lbs per bike. Had I known the wheelbase you have and the weight of your bike I would have made this recommendation for you previously. I attached a review video for you to check out as well. I still stand by the previous recommendation I made about the # SA4023. I can't guarantee...

  • Will Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH9033 Fit Vertex Bike Rack on 2015 Jeep Wrangler
  • The Thule Tram Ski and Snowboard Carrier # TH9033 is indeed compatible with their Vertex 4 hitch-mount bike rack # TH9029. In your case the concern with fitting this ski carrier on your 2015 Wrangler Unlimited Willys concerns the rear-mounted spare tire interfering with the bike rack. In the case of the Vertex 4 bike rack the amount of clearance from its hitch pin hole to the upright bar is 12-inches. You can determine the amount of clearance you need for your Willy's spare tire by measuring...

  • Saris Bike Rack Recommendation for a 29 inch Wheel Bike with Long Wheel Base
  • I spoke to my contact at Saris and he told me that they have a better solution for your bike, but the Saris Cycle-On Pro # SA4023 that you referenced can be challenging to fit 29 inch wheel bikes onto. He said it's possible, but usually requires deflating the tires to get the wheel clamps to catch. Also, he couldn't give me a max wheelbase that the rack will work with. What he recommended was the Saris Freedom SuperClamp 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4025. This rack will work well with a...

  • Replacement Rubber Straps for a Highland SportWing 2 Bike Rack
  • If you need the strap that attaches to the cradle, you will need # 58400 or you can go with the entire replacement cradle assembly # 58401. Or if you happen to need the straps that will provide additional support by securing the bike frame and the rack's upright bar, I recommend the Softride hook and loop tie down # SR18679. Their 12-inch length provides ample wrapping power to secure any unstable frames or tires to the rack arms or cradles. There is a pack of 4 which is # SR26260. I...

  • Best 5-Bike Rack Recommendation
  • The only style of bike rack we offer that would carry up to 5 bikes is a hanging style rack. The platform racks available can only carry up to 4 bikes. The 5 bike rack that I would recommend is the Thule Vertex 5 Bike Rack part # TH9030. This rack holds the bikes by attaching to the top tube of the bikes. The arced arms makes loading bikes easier since they will all be at differing heights. I attached a review video for this rack for you to check out as well. If you plan on carrying...

  • What is the Angle of the Ramp for Loading Bikes on the Thule EasyFold Bike Rack
  • The angle of the ramp is going to be different on every vehicle due to differences in the hitch height. The Thule EasyFold 2 Bike Rack # TH9032 is approximately 8-3/4 inches from the top of the shank that fits in the receiver tube. Measure from the top of the receiver opening on your hitch up 8-3/4 inches to determine about where the platform will be. The ramp is about 4 feet long so given the length of the ramp and the eight of the platform based on the height of your hitch, you should...

These racks will tilt rearward away from the vehicle once the bikes are removed, allowing access to the rear of the vehicle. There's a few differences between the two racks, the Apex offers higher quality cradles that are more heavily padded. Fortunately the Swagman XC-2 Platform-Style Hitch Bike Rack # S64650 that you referenced will fit both the 1-1/4-inch and 2-inch size hitches so it will definitely fit your hitch. For more info check out the FAQ article on hitch classifications that I attached. For a 4 bike rack I like the Thule Vertex part # TH9029. Gaining access to your hatch cargo area with 4 bikes on the platform rack may be challenging because when you tilt the platform rack it will get quite heavy. • Trailer Hitch Extender for Bike Rack on Rear of Fifth Wheel Trailer
  • I would not under any circumstance recommend using a hitch extender at the rear of a fifth wheel. Using an extender will lower the tongue weight capacity of your hitch (the maximum amount of weight that can safely be hung from the hitch) by 50 percent. This could place the capacity of the hitch as low as 100 lbs, depending on if your hitch is a Class I or II. This would mean that the weight of the bike rack plus the bikes stowed on it couldn't exceed 100 lbs. Because adding the extender...

  • Bike Rack for Use on 1-1/4-Inch Rear Hitch on Montana 5th Wheel Trailer
  • Any bike rack that is to be used on the rear of a trailer must be built specifically for that application. Standard hitch-mount racks for automobiles cannot be used on the back of a trailer. The reason for this limitation is that the vertical and horizontal forces present at the back of a trailer are much greater than those found at the back of a car. A standard automobile hitch rack would be destroyed if installed on the back of a 5th wheel. The Swagman XTC Platform Rack # S64670 that...

When we installed hitches on the 2009 Chevy Malibu we found the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole back to clear the rear of the vehicle was 7 inches. What this means is that the center line of the closest bike will be approximately 11-7/8 inches back from the center of the hitch pin hole.
