Compatibility of Curt Euro-Style Ball Mount w/ Draw-Tite Class I 24796 on 2010 Nissan Maxima

Question:

Hi I noticed when the Curt was installed on the Maxima the height was 10 and1/4 inch and the receiver was set back 7inch I would like to install the Draw Tite hitch and use the Curt euro mount receiver bar 1and7/8 for my 2010 Maxima and wanted to know if that configuration will work.

When we installed the Draw-Tite # 24796 on a 2009 Nissan Maxima, we found that the hitch height and the setback was the exact same as the Curt # C11352 you referenced. This being said, the Euro-style ball mount won't work with the Draw-Tite hitch.

A Class I hitch has the hitch pin hole recessed further back in the receiver than a Class II hitch would be. Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch punch or weld a stop into the receiver so a Class II rated accessory can't be slid into the receiver far enough for the hitch pin holes to line up. This is done as a safety measure. This is what would happen if you attempted to use the Euro-style ball mount in the Draw-Tite # 24796.

This is why you don't want to use any other ball mount than the one recommended by the hitch manufacturer, part # 3594. For a 1-7/8 inch trailer ball, use part # 19256 or # 19258 for a 2 inch ball. To wire your vehicle for towing, use the # 118470 trailer wiring harness.

I've linked you to install videos for the hitch and the trailer wiring harness.
