Recommended Euro-Style Ball Mount for a 2015 Nissan Altima with Curt Class I Trailer Hitch

Question:

i am trying to a ball mount, euro style, for my Nissan Altima with 11352 Class I Hitch. By my measurements I require 5 to 6 inches to clear the bumper. No where on any sites have I found any reference to internal dimensions from the hole for pin to where bend starts. A profile shot on a one inch square paper or wood board would be nice. I even sent an email to curtmfg.com and no response. HELP.

The recommended 2 inch Euro style ball mount for Curt trailer hitch # C11352 on a 2015 Nissan Altima is # C45572. I went out to the warehouse and pulled one to take some measurements. From the center of the pin hole to the part of the shank where it starts to bend up is 3 inches. This will work because the rear bumper on the Altima tapers upward above the hitch receiver.

At 6-1/2 inches out from the center of the hitch pin hole, where the shank starts to bend straight up, it is at a height of 2-1/4 inches. It measures 7-1/4 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball. The measurements for the 1-7/8 inch version, # C45571, will be the same.

Despite the math working out either ball mount will still be very close to the vehicle so there are some other options. Ball mount # C45562 measures 9-3/4 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball, but it is also taller. From the pin hole center to where it starts to bend upward is approximately 3-1/2 inches. The 1-7/8 inch version is # C45561.

Two inch ball mount # C45592 is even longer measuring 11-1/4 inches from the center of the pin hole to the center of the ball. On it from the center of the pin hole to where it starts to bend upward is approximately 5 inches. The 1-7/8 inch version is # C45591.

Then there are some straight versions such as # C45552. It measures 9-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball. The 1-7/8 inch version is # C45551.

And finally, we have a couple of options that have a drop and no rise at all including # C45582 for a 2 inch or # C45581 for a 1-7/8 inch. But you will need a ball mount that allows you to tow the trailer as level as possible so you also have to look at the rise or drop offered by each. I have linked a help article that explains how to measure for rise or drop as well as links to some videos.
