1977 Jeep CJ-5 - Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights

  • Removable Tail Light Kit
  • Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Universal
  • Roadmaster

Avoid tapping into your towed Jeep CJ-5's electrical system by using these self-contained tow lights. Heavy-duty magnets keep lights securely in place on your towed car.

Features:

  • Allows you to legally tow your car without having to tap into its wiring
  • Eliminates risk of electrical damage to towed car
  • Attaches securely with magnets
  • Connects directly to motor home wiring, bypassing towed vehicle completely
  • Has heavy-duty vinyl casing for superior protection of wiring
  • Meets Department of Transportation standards
  • Fits all vehicles
  • Includes 2 lights and wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector
  • Length of wire:
    • Wire that connects the lights: 53-1/2"
    • Wire that extends out the back of the light: 243"
    • Wire with 4-pole connector: 35-1/2"
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

The law requires that all towed cars have functional signal and brake lights in sync with the RV towing them. Most wiring kits require you to splice into your vehicle's electrical system, but doing this can void your manufacturer's warranty. Magnetic tow lights avoid this problem by having the wiring run underneath your car and plug into your power source.

These lights have worked flawlessly for the whole 2023 camping season on my RV towed vehicle. I mount them on the rear of the roof so they are nice and high above bicycles on a hitch mounted rack.

by:

Extremely happy with the tow bar wiring. Not one problem for the year!

Jeep

They were shipped fast and arrived quickly. These are quality lights with very strong magnets. I installed them on my Jeep in no time after making some steel brackets for the tubular aluminum bumper. Would be nice to have 5 or 6 magnetic clips to place along the wire to secure it to the vehicle. I highly recommend these lights.

2005 Subaru Forester

I like these lights, nice strong magets hold them securely to car roof. I use them because my bikes in bags cover my tail lights. I added LED bulbs because when I tow the car with my RV these additional lights put to much load causing voltage drop and dim lights.

These lights are still working well only improvement I could suggest is if they could somehow maybe put up plastic layer between the magnets and the roof because they’re taking paint off, if they could still make the magnet is strong.

Jeep Wrangler

I purchased the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs. initially I was Leary of the product because of its low price compared to other tow bars. I now can say my concerns were needless because after flat towing my Wrangler over 5,000 trouble-free miles I have nothing negative but only positives to report. The best thing I like about the tow At is that it only takes 5 minutes to attach and unhook.

Good light set. Works perfectly and has held up well.

by:
2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Everything was delivered on time and worked perfectly. This solved my concerns about towing my car with my RV with a car dolly.

by:

Heavy duty magnets gave me the security of knowing they wouldn’t come off. Very easy to install!

by:

Fast delivery. Did a test as soon as I received the light kit. Flawless. Magnets very strong but safe for car finish.

by:

I did a mock-up set-up and this kit works as advertised.
Magnetic bases are strong, it should fit my needs perfectly.

by:

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2014 Jeep Cherokee with a Roadmaster Blackhawk Tow Bar
Yes, the EZ4 base plates for the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, # RM-521447-4, are compatible with Roadmaster Blackhawk tow bar # RM-422, and any motor home mounted Roadmaster tow bar. If you do not already have safety cables you can use # BX88197 to match the 1oK capacity of the tow bar. You will also need a lighting solution. I recommend a magnetic kit such as # RM-2120 because it is quick and easy to set up and you will not have to cut into the vehicle wiring to use it. And finally, most states...

  • How to Tow a 2000 Chevy S10 Behind a Motor Home as Inexpensively as Possible
There is certain equipment required by law to flat tow a vehicle. That equipment includes base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. If you just need to tow the 2000 Chevy S10 once or twice, the expense is likely not worth it. But if you flat tow the truck often behind a motor home then you are going to need these items. Check the S10 owners manual to see if it can be dolly towed (with the front wheels up on a dolly). If so you could rent or otherwise obtain...

  • Tow Bar Wiring that Bypasses Vehicle Wiring on a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The bulb and socket kit # RM-155-2 is not one of the tow bar lighting systems that is recommended for your 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee (it doesn't fit) so I do not recommend using it. For another option that bypasses the vehicle wiring you can use a magnetic light kit such as # RM-2120 We also have wireless options # 337TL257M and # LIW-LDTL.

  • Correct Base Plate Kit for Towing a 1995 Toyota Tacoma with a Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar RM-525
The # 1133-1 Roadmaster base plate kit you referenced is a fit for the 4WD models of the 1995 Toyota Tacoma but you would need an adapter to use it with a Roadmaster Falcon 2 5250 tow bar, our part # RM-525. To make things easier, get the Blue Ox base plate kit # BX3728, as this will connect directly to the tow bar without need for an adapter, and it is also a custom-fit for your vehicle. For a simple wiring solution, you could use a magnetic light kit such as part # RM-2120. The Roadmaster...

I believe you are talking about the diagrams that are lower on the product page, below the description and specs, for # RM-154. There are 4 of these diagrams. I have included a picture that shows them all for you. Please note that the diode kit is not recommended if your 2015 Ford Edge has LED tail lights. I have included a link to a video showing an example installation for you. If your Edge has LED lights I recommend Roadmaster # RM-2120 which will bypass the factory wiring so you won't...

A better tow bar option would be the RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, which is designed for towing long distances and more frequently. Please check your owners manual and see what procedures that need to be followed for flat towing your Cadillac Escalade EXT. In addition to the tow bar and base plates you will also need safety cables, if you do not already have some, # RM-643. Once installed, the base plate attachments will sit in the opening that runs behind your vehicle license plate. To wire your Vue to be towed, you would have a couple options. I would actually advise against using Tow Ready tow bar # 63180 for a couple of reasons. First, this tow bar is rated for a maximum of 45 miles per hour which is fine for short hops around town but useless for highway use. And second there are base plates required, # 40602, but they are going to require major modifications to the bumper and need to be reinforced so professional installation is recommended.
