How to Install the Optronics Red LED Trailer Stop, Turn and Tail Light

All right today on this trailer we're going to install part number STL23RB from Optronics. First thing we need to do is go ahead and remove the original tail light. Now it's a good idea to spray it with some lubricant first and then we use a screw driver to help pry out the old light. Once you have the light removed from the grommet we'll go ahead and remove the wire harness from the tail light. Usually you can pop this off with a screw driver. In this case the wire harness came apart as we took out the light.

Now we'll take our new light and put it back in the same location. We'll take our wire harness, we'll plug it into the back of our new light. Then we'll spray the grommet one more time with some lubricant to help push the light in. Then working from the top on our way to the bottom, we'll go ahead and push the light until it recesses in all the way. In this case we had about a quarter inch gap between the edge of the grommet and the inside edge of the light itself. With our light installed we'll go ahead and apply power to it and see how it works.

We also have a incandescent light right next it to show you some contrast. First we'll go ahead and turn on the running lights. Then we'll go ahead and try out the brake and turn signals. OK, it looks like everything is working. With that, that'll finish it for our install of part number STL23RB.
