Cargo Carrier Lighting Kit Recommendation for a 1989 Volkswagen Vanagon

Updated 11/03/2014 | Published 11/02/2014

Question:

I have a 1989 VW Vanagon camper with an aluminum cargo hitch. Ive learned this summer that placing items in the hitch prevents my turn signals from being seen by the cars behind me. My trailer ID is: blackda3. Below is a list of parts Ive ed to add additional running, brake and turn signals when using my cargo hitch. If possible, Id like to make the turn signals amber to complement by existing turn signals. In addition to the parts in my shopping cart, I also would appreciate your help in ing the appropriate wiring harness to come from my vehicle’s flat four to power the cargo hitch lights along with waterproof backing or appropriate gaskets for the lighting below. The Optronics 6inch oval lights with LEDs along with mounting brackets flanges should be in line with my goals. Could I please trouble you to look over my ions to ensure I have the correct wiring pigtails and a sufficient number Im assuming 4, so I can get all of the parts I need? Ive also made a Sketch-Up layout if a picture of what Im trying to accomplish would help. Please feel free to add the requisite parts and quantity as needed to my blackda3 shopping cart. The easiest way to get a taillight wiring kit on your cargo carrier to allow your taillights to be more visible would be to get one of the kits we offer that are designed specifically for this. For that I would recommend the part # 98174LED. This comes with the LED assemblies you are interested in. With this kit would also want the # BK70BB that you referenced for mounting brackets.

You will also need a 4-way on your vehicle to operate these lights if you don't have one already. For that I would recommend the # C56175.
