Question:
One of the locks on my Yakima Skybox is VERY stiff to turnId like to replace the core or give it a good cleaning but all the videos Ive seen suggest that the way to remove the core is to unlock it and use a master key to slide to core out. Trouble is, the regular key wont come out of the lock unless the lock is lockedsort of a Catch-22! How do you do it then?

Great question! As a convenience feature, the Skybox is designed so that the key cannot be removed while the lock is unlocked, to prevent accidentally locking the key in the cargo box. I gave Yakima a call, and was told that if the key is turned midway between the lock and unlock position, it can then be removed. At that point, you would then insert the control key and remove and replace the lock core as desired.
If you have misplaced your control key you would want the part # Y8007835.
