Question:

Hi, The Yakima Exo System is a great concept, but is there a way to lock the accessories onto the swingbase to prevent theft?

Yes, there is a way to secure the accessories to the Yakima EXO Swing Away Cargo Carrier item # Y72VR. The Swing Away base has Yakima's Same Key System (SKS) locks built in that secures the accessories to the base. These cores are included but can also be replaced to match other Yakima products with item # Y07204.

I have attach a picture below that will show you this function. I have linked a review video below that walks threw all of the functions. For a theft-deterring anti-rattle hitch lock, I recommend item # e99047.

There are a couple other accessories for this system and I have listed them below:

Yakima GearLocker Enclosed Cargo Carrier for Modular EXO System item # Y44VR

Yakima DoubleUp 2 Bike Rack for Modular EXO System item # Y24VR

Yakima EXO Swing Away Storage System w/ Enclosed Cargo Carrier and Cargo Carrier item # Y44ZR

They should also provide a lock nut to secure the swing base from its tongue. There are only two regular nuts that secures it and its easy to take it out and snatch the whole swing base

@Tap Yes, there is. You can use the Threaded Anti-Rattle Hitch Pin Lock for etrailer Cargo Carriers item # e99047 to secure the Yakima EXO Swing Away Cargo Carrier like item # Y72VR to your vehicle's hitch. Other than that the Swing Away base has Yakima's Same Key System (SKS) locks built in that secures the accessories to the base.
