Question:

I have a double trailer for my jet skis. I am in need of both a Standard Hand Winch and Left-Handed Winch. Or a winch that it changeable. My Trailer Box makes cranking up the right hand ski very difficult. I dont need to break the bank on these winches. A 1,000 LB capacity should suffice. Each ski weighs 800 lbs. Please advise if this is doable and any products that I can view. Thx, Jim

The lowest capacity hand winch we offer that the handle is easily changeable would be the Dutton-Lainson # DL14527. The folks at Dutton-Lainson have told us that this winch is capable of being modified. The drum, its shaft, the gear shaft and pawl shaft would all need to be removed, and reversed. The gear shaft is held in place by both a nut and an e-clip that would need to be removed. I have labeled these parts in a photo I have edited for you.

In other words, some dis-assembly would be required, but reversing the handle to the other side is certainly doable. This winch would have more than enough capacity for your boat, it would work very well for you.

The winch can be used with a strap like # DL24249 or cable like # DL24104.
