Hi Peter,
t sounds like the biggest issue you're running into is the screw rusting out, rather than the jack's outer materials. With your trailer going into salt water every week, I'd look at the Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Jack with Wheel, Sidewind, 12" Lift, 1,500 lbs, part # DL22210, that you're considering. I like this option because it has a sealed design and quality gearing, which are important features when you're trying to get more life out of a jack that's exposed to harsh marine conditions. The included mounting bracket and hardware also make installation straightforward.
Salt water is especially tough on moving metal parts, so even with a marine style jack, regular rinsing with fresh water after each outing and proper maintenance can help slow corrosion.
When you say the jack gets submerged, does the entire jack go underwater, including the screw and gearbox, or is it mainly the lower portion?
