Tire Chains for 2023 Nissan Murano with 235/65R18 Tires

Published 10/21/2026

Question:

My niece has a 2023 Nissan Murano SV with brand new Michelin Defenders 2 235/65R18 tires. I know you guys have a video installing these chains on the 2023 Nissan Murano with the same tire size, but the product page also states it cannot confirm fit on the Murano. Will these actually fit her tires? She wont be able to easily send them back if they dont and I live in a different country so we need to make sure whatever chains she gets actually fit.

Thanks for letting us help Kristin. Yes, the Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains # th01571255 will fit the 235/65R18 tires on your niece's 2023 Nissan Murano SV. Our fit guide can be a little tricky when it comes to tire chains because it uses the most common factory tire sizes for each vehicle to determine compatibility. You can also find a complete list of compatible tire sizes near the bottom of each tire chain product page.

That said, there's one important thing I wanted to point out before you order. I took a look at the 2023 Nissan Murano owner's manual, and Nissan specifically recommends using Class S compatible tire chains. Class S chains are designed for vehicles with limited clearance between the tires and vehicle itself. Unfortunately, the # th01571255 is not Class S compatible. Instead, I'd recommend the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2323. These are Class S compatible and fit the 235/65R18 tire size. They're a great entry level option that provides good traction and performance for the price. I've included a screenshot from Nissan's owner's manual below showing the tire chain requirements for your niece's Murano.

One other recommendation I always make with tire chains is to practice installing them before you actually need them. Getting familiar with the installation process in your driveway is much easier than figuring it out for the first time on the side of a snowy road in the dark.

Is your niece planning to use the chains for occasional trips, or does she regularly drive in areas that get heavy snow?

Hi Christopher. Thank you for getting back to me so fast! I see I screwed up and asked the question under the wrong product. I meant to ask about the Konig chains Part Number: TH2004705255 for $338.02. My niece will be living in the mountains for the season where there is regularly heavy snow. She has AWD and recently bought brand new all season tires, but they are not snow rated (Michelin Defender 2), so I wanted to make sure she has the best chains within my budget, which is slightly less than the Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning I actually meant to ask about, but we can make that price work if they will work well on her Murano. With that in mind, which would you recommend for a 19 year old that will be making daily trips to and from work in the mountains, and weekly trips down and back up again, the Konig TH2004705255 or the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link # TC2323?

@Kristin For this application, I would go with the Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning # TH2004705255. Putting cost aside, in my opinion the biggest pain point with tire chains is installation and the ability to maintain proper tensioning while in use. The automatic tensioning system with the # TH2004705255 is the biggest advantage. Once installed, the chains automatically tighten and center as you drive. I'm also a fan of the more aggressive chain pattern where the diamonds meet on the Konig's. The # TC2323 are a good alternative for someone who only occasionally needs tire chains or primarily carries them to satisfy chain requirements. I wouldn't expect a dramatic difference between the two chains in terms of traction based off of the chain pattern. We typically find that tire chains that are easier to install and tension well when in use (don't fall off) will actually get installed when the situation calls for it. The more cumbersome the chains are, the more hesitant folks are to actually put them on.
