Should More Grease Be Pumped into EZ Lube Fitting After Blowing Out Seal
Published 10/08/2026 >
Question:
I just added grease to my e-z lube system. Pumped in new grease while spinning wheel until old grease was replaced with the new. After first trip, grease sprayed out over outer rim inner rim is clean. Im replacing the rubber caps. Should I add more grease for the grease that was lost or just leave it alone?

Hey John, this is actually a pretty common problem. EZ lube spindles make it too easy to be able to add too much grease and once the hub gets hot the grease expands and then blows past the seal on the highway. I would probably just pull it apart and repack the bearings by hand and not add any more grease via the EZ lube spindle.
