Replacement Hot Water Bypass Valve for 2012 Jayco Eagle Super Lite

Updated 09/23/2026 | Published 09/20/2026

Question:

I have a 2012 Jayco Eagle super light travel trailer. It has a factory hot water tank bypass. The shut off valve on the lower side of the hot water tank was plastic and broke. No water leaks but I can’t bypass. It seems that it’s pex tubing that is crimped. Can i simply cut the crimping and replace that valve. I have completely plumbed my home with pex. Do you know if it’s pex. And what size the tubing is. Do you have a replacement valve.

Hey Lee!

It definitely sounds like you're dealing with PEX tubing, and if your existing lines are 1/2", the B&B RV Hot Water Tank Bypass Diverter Valve # BM95RR would be a good replacement option. This valve is designed specifically for a water heater bypass setup and has 1/2" PEX connections.

Since you're already familiar with working with PEX, you can remove the existing crimp rings, cut out the broken valve, and install the new valve using new PEX crimp rings or clamps. I would just measure the outside diameter or check the markings on your existing tubing first to confirm you have 1/2" PEX before ordering, since I can't verify the original plumbing size on your specific 2012 Jayco Eagle Super Lite.

Is it the lower valve directly at the water heater that broke, or is your bypass controlled by a single 3-way valve?

It’s the lower valve at the tank. Not the bypass

@LeeC Thanks for clarifying! Since it’s the lower shutoff valve directly at the water heater and not the bypass valve itself, the # BM95RR won’t be the correct replacement. You should still be able to replace that valve by removing the existing PEX crimp ring and installing a new inline shutoff valve, but I’d want to confirm the tubing size and the connections on both sides of the valve before recommending a specific replacement. Most RV plumbing like this is 1/2" PEX, but I don’t want to assume that on your 2012 Jayco Eagle. If you can send me a picture of the broken valve and the plumbing connected to it, I can take a closer look and see what we have that will match it.
