Question:

Hi. The AC shroud cover for our 2019 Rpod 190 blew off on our way home from camping and sustained a nasty crack. We lost the styrofoam parts too. Im trying to find a replacement shroud, but they don[t look like our old one. The SKU is 9105305701 which seems to belong to a Dometic Penguin II, but the pictures I see dont look like ours, which has 3 rows of round ventilation holes on either side. See the attached photo. Are the ones you sell just upgrades from the original or am I not looking at the right product? Thanks!

Hey Rick!

Thanks for sending the picture — that helps a lot. While the Replacement Dometic Penguin and Penguin II Rooftop Air Conditioner Shroud # DMC57JF is designed for Penguin and Penguin II units, the Replacement Shroud for Dometic Penguin II RV Air Conditioner # DMC75RR is a much closer match to the shroud you have now. It has the same low-profile shape and the same three-row round vent pattern shown in your photo.

The # DMC75RR measures 40-1/4" long x 28-1/2" wide x 7" tall, so I’d recommend comparing those measurements to your original shroud before ordering just to give us one final confirmation on fit.

As for the foam pieces you lost, we don’t offer the original foam separately, but the Replacement Universal Gasket # DC99TR can be trimmed as needed for your Penguin II setup.

So you’re not looking at the wrong AC — there are just a couple different replacement shroud styles available for the Penguin II, and # DMC75RR is the one that best matches what you currently have.

Was the shroud already cracked before the trip, or did it come off unexpectedly while you were driving? Besides losing the shroud, how was the camping trip?

@RickR There's always something that has to bring us back to reality! Haha If you decide to move forward with this one, I'd love to hear back on how it works for you. From the photos and description, I believe it is but it's always great to get confirmation.

Oh, also, the foam we lost wasn’t the gasket; it was some styrofoam. Maybe for insulation or to help with vibration? Its like the styrofoam from a cooler.

@RickR Got ya! We don't carry that foam, so it would have to come directly from Dometic, unfortunately. I wasn't able to find it online, so you'll probably need to give them a call or shoot them an email to know exactly how to get that.
