Which Hitch is Better for a 2026 Subaru Forester Premium Hybrid? Curt or EcoHitch?

Question:

Can you compare the Ecohitch 306-X7391 and Curt C47HR for installation on a 2026 Forester Premium hybrid? I cant tell from the pictures, but they seem to be similar in clearance and hidden crossbar. Im also concerned about losing the function of the foot sensorthere are conflicting reports/comments. Thank you.

I sure can Daniel. The EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7391 and the Curt Hitch item # C47HR have identical installation methods. They replace your 2026 Subaru Forester's rear bumper beam so the entire cross tubes for both hitches will be completely concealed.

Better clearance does go to the EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7391. When we installed it on a 2025 Forester the top of the inside of the receiver sits 15" above the ground. The top of the inside of the Curt Hitch item # C47HR sat an inch lower at 14" above the ground.

Capacity wise the EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7391 has the same 3,500 lbs towing ability as the Curt Hitch item # C47HR. However, the EcoHitch has a 525 lbs tongue weight capacity over the 350 lbs for the Curt.

Out of these two options, I recommend the Curt Hitch item # C47HR for your 2026 Subaru Forester Premium Hybrid. You won't be able to utilize the full tongue weight capacity of the EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7391 because of your Subaru's limitations. The installation methods aren't a factor because they involve the same steps. The price difference is pretty steep as well.

Both the EcoHitch Hitch item # 306-X7391 and the Curt Hitch item # C47HR are going to block the range of the liftgate sensor around the 2" receiver. You'll need to find spots to the left or the right of it where the sensor can pick up the movement.
