Replacing Horse Trailer Lights

Hello. I am trying to replace all the lights on our small horse trailer with LEDs. I have questions about two products: 1. Our license plate light is a grommet-mounted clear light with a 2-female-terminal connector. It measures about 2-3/8 by 1-3/16 inches. The lens is labeled SAE P2 91 DOT 6. The grommet is labeled 45847. The housing is labeled BLE 7-60 SAE L70. Your part PET95FJ looks similar in size and wiring to our light, but its amber. Do you have a clear/white LED in this size/connection? 2. Our clearance lights are surface-mount, 4x2 inches, 2 holes, 3 inches apart, all appear to be the same but there are two wiring configurations. In some positions, the hot wire enters through a slot in the plastic base, then up through a hole into the bulb mounting area. In others, the hot wire just comes from behind the plastic base through the hole into the bulb area. All of them are grounded through the mounting hardware. We need both red and amber lights in both configurations wire through edge of base, wire through back of base. Can you point me to specific part numbers for these positions? It looks like MCL45AB and MCL45RB would work but maybe there are other good choices Im missing in your catalog. Thank you!

Hey Ari!
Thanks for reaching out! The LED Trailer License Plate Light # LPL91CB will be a great replacement for your license plate light. This one has a clear lens with white LEDs and is only marginally different in size, measuring 2-1/2" x 1-1/4" x 13/16", so I doubt the difference will be noticeable.
It does not include the grommet, but you can add the Grommet for Optronics A91, AL82, AL90, AL91, or AL191 Series Trailer Lights # A91GB. With the grommet installed, the overall footprint will be approximately 3-5/16" x 1-15/16". The wiring style will also be a little different from your existing 2-terminal connector, so you'll need to splice the new light into your trailer wiring rather than reuse the original plug.
For the clearance lights, you were definitely looking in the right place. I recommend the Optronics Double Bullseye LED Trailer Clearance or Side Marker Light # MCL45AB for the amber locations and # MCL45RB for the red locations. These measure 4-1/16" x 2-1/8", use the same 3" center-to-center mounting-hole spacing you measured, and are a single-wire, self-grounding design, so the mounting hardware provides the ground just like your existing lights.
You won't actually need separate versions for the locations where the power wire enters from behind the base versus through the edge. The MCL45 lights are hardwired with a single power lead, so you can route that lead through the existing hole behind the light when there's an opening in the trailer, or route it along the base to meet the existing wiring where needed. That means # MCL45AB and # MCL45RB should cover all of those positions without having to mix different light models.
