Updated 08/29/2026 | Published 08/24/2026

Question:

Hello, I have two of your replacement Tail/Brake/Side Marker products to put on my utility trailer. But I cannot see how to connect the wiring to the product. Is there an electrical plug that connects the wiring to the product or ??? Thank You

Hi Peter, you do not need a separate electrical plug for these lights part # ST9RB and part # ST8RB The stripped ends of your trailer wires insert directly into the connection ports on the back of the Optronics ST8RB replacement light. I know it can be a little confusing when you first look at the back of the light and do not see a traditional plug, but the wiring connects directly to the light.

You can use 16 or 18 gauge wire for the connections. If you need new wiring, the 16 Gauge, 4 Conductor Bonded Parallel Wire, part part # 16-4B-1, is one option you can use. The video I attached also shows how to insert the stripped wires into the ports.

What do you use the utility trailer for, yard projects, work, or weekend adventures?
