Will Tie Down Spare Tire Mount Fit Channel Frame On Magic Tilt Boat Trailer

Question:

Hello. I am looking for a spare tire mount for my magic tilt boat trailer. It is a channel frame. The tires are 5 lug. I have been looking at one of your mounts, but I need to be sure it can go on a channel frame. Can you guide me in the right direction? Thank you

Hey Nicholas! If you're referring to the Tie Down Spare Tire Mount # TD86FR then yes, you can use it on the channel frame of your Magic Tilt trailer. This will fit as long as the frame isn't more than 8" tall, and it will also work with your 5 lug wheel.

Since you have a channel frame, I would add a block inside the channel where the carrier mounts to fill the gap and reinforce it when you tighten down the hardware. A piece of composite board, or similar water-resistant material would work well. I would avoid standard untreated wood since this is a boat trailer and it will regularly be exposed to water.
