Hello Peter,
Thanks for writing in!
Since your Ranger boat trailer is equipped with a Dexter XR84 brake actuator, the Replacement Solenoid Valve # T4748800 is the correct replacement. It is designed for Dexter brake actuators with an electric reverse lockout, making it a great fit if you're replacing a failed or damaged solenoid.
If you're replacing the original solenoid because the reverse lockout isn't working properly, it's also a good idea to inspect the trailer wiring and verify that the solenoid is receiving power from the reverse light circuit. A wiring issue can cause the same symptoms as a faulty solenoid.
How long have you had the Ranger, and where is your favorite spot to fish? I have an 04 Comanche, I like to dabble in small local bass tournaments here in Missouri, mainly Mark Twain Lake in the summer, rest of the year is Lake of the Ozarks. The boats out on the Lake of the Ozarks in the summer are way too big, my back does not like coming down on those wakes!

The original was a vertical solenoid which makes it alot shorter, make sure you have enough room to fit the horizontal pass thru type, my Ranger Z521C has a swing away tongue with plent of room. Make sure you do have good signal voltage and a Good ground too.
