Is There A 6-Pole Mounting Bracket That Has A Mounting Location For A Breakaway Switch?

Question:

Do you offer any bumper mounting brackets for this connector that would also be able to attach the breakaway switch?

Hey Rege, thanks for reaching out. We do have mounting brackets for the Pollak 6-Pole Round Pin Trailer Wiring Socket # PK11608, and the one I recommend is # C92CR. That bracket gives you a clean, secure way to mount the socket to the bumper or hitch, but it doesn't include a mounting location for a breakaway switch.

The breakaway switch is normally mounted separately on the trailer tongue, close enough to the coupler that the breakaway cable can attach directly to the tow vehicle. That way, if the trailer ever becomes disconnected from the hitch, the cable pulls the pin straight out of the switch and immediately applies the trailer brakes. Mounting the switch next to the trailer connector isn't recommended because it can change the pull angle of the cable and interfere with proper operation. The picture below shows a typical breakaway switch installation and the routing of the cable.

What kind of trailer is all this going on?

The Curt bracket worked well for me on my Jeep cherokee. You need to mount the break away switch separately.
