2027 Jeep Wrangler Complete Blue Ox Flat Tow Setup

Updated 08/07/2026 | Published 08/06/2026

Question:

We're picking up a new 2027 Jeep Wrangler and want to get everything we need to flat tow it behind our Class A motorhome. I'd like to stay with a Blue Ox setup if possible, including the tow bar and base plates. Can you put together a complete parts list and let me know if there's anything else I'll need besides the main flat tow components? Thank you! Meg

Hey Meg, congratulations on the new Wrangler! For a complete setup you will need a tow bar, base plate, safety chains, wiring, and a supplemental brake system. For a Blue Ox setup I recommend the following:

-Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1139

-Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar # BLU28QV (includes safety cables)

-Blue Ox Universal Tow Bar Cover # BLU53QV (optional)

-Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-15267 (If you DO NOT have ParkSense)

Or

-Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM63MR (If you DO have ParkSense)

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25

-Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System # BLU37TR

-Blue Ox 12 Volt Power Outlet Kit # BLU33QV

The only thing that isn't Blue Ox here is the wiring. Roadmaster makes the most reliable wiring so I recommend going with their kit over other options.

More than likely you will also need a high-low adapter like the etrailer # e52ZV to keep your setup level. The bracket height on the Blue Ox base plate is 18". Measure to the center of your motorhome hitch and subtract the bracket height, the difference will be the rise/drop you need.

What trips do you have planned once you get the new Jeep all set up?

The white Jeep in the picture is my 2024 Wrangler 392 Rubicon. The blue Ox base plate works well if you’re not going to be doing any serious off-roading. The base plate could hang down too far for your approach angle. Other than that it is solid and is below the bumper so that lowers the height and worker perfect for my set up. I did all the work setting it up and installing. Make sure to use lock tight on the install bolts! Good luck with your Jeep install.

@Jim that is a great looking Jeep! Thanks for adding your picture and sharing your firsthand experience with the base plate. Great point about it potentially affecting the approach angle for anyone planning to do some off-roading. Hope the 392 Rubicon is treating you well! Be safe out there.

Love the list, thanks a bunch for putting that together! Do you have those protectors that keep rocks from scratching up the front? Can't have my new Wrangler looking bad!

@Meg you're welcome! I completely understand, the Blue Ox KarGard # BX8870 is what you're looking for. This is compatible with the Avail from the list above.
