Where Should Kodiak Disc Brake Calipers Be Mounted On A Trailer Axle?

Published 07/28/2026

Question:

Hi I recently purchased kodiak 225 brake calipers, with 10 inch rotors. Please help me out, I have a tandem axle trailer so there will be 4 of everything, 4 calipers 4 rotors, My question is Which side of the axle do I mount these, front or rear? Do I mount them at 3 oclock or 9 oclock on the road side Any advise would help

Hey Allen, welcome back! For the Kodiak 225 calipers with 10-inch rotors, mount the calipers behind the axle on both axles. That's the standard installation and is how Kodiak designed the brackets to be used. Looking at the trailer from the roadside, the calipers will end up around the 3 o'clock position on the driver's side and the 9 o'clock position on the passenger side. The important thing is that the bleeder screw is at the top of the caliper when it's installed. If the bleeder is pointing down, you've got the caliper on the wrong side, and you won't be able to bleed all of the air out of the system.
