Replacement Hubs, Bearings, and Brakes for a 2019 Dexter 3,500 lb Axle on an EZ Loader Trailer

Updated 07/23/2026 | Published 07/20/2026

Question:

Hello, I’m looking to replace the hubs, bearings, and potentially the brakes on my 1990 ez loader single axel trailer. It has a 2019 Dexter 3500 lb axel on it and 5 lug hubs. I’m wondering what kit I can purchase that will work for me? Any help you’re able to provide would be great and I’m happy to send photos of the hub/axel if needed.

Hi! I'd be happy to help. Since you have a 2019 Dexter 3,500 lb axle, the bearing kit you need is the # BK2-100. It includes the correct inner and outer bearings, races, grease seal, cotter pin, and tang washer for one hub, so you'll just need one kit per hub.

If you're planning to replace the brakes as well, you'll need part # AKEBRK-35-SA. Those are the correct 10 inch by 2-1/4 inch brake assemblies for your 3,500 lb Dexter axle. If you're replacing the hubs at the same time, the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500 lb Axles, part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K, is an excellent match. It comes pre-greased, fits the common 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern, and works perfectly with those brake assemblies, making it an easy way to refresh the entire hub and brake setup in one shot.

Out of curiosity, what kind of boat are you towing, and where do you usually take it out?
