Recommended Gooseneck Pin Box to Replace a Curt Turning Point

Which Cushioned kingpin boxes will directly interchange with the curt Turning Point on a 2024 Grand Design Reflection 150 295RL 5th wheel?

Unfortunately, there are none Carl. There's no kingpin pin boxes that replace a Curt Turning Point. That bolt pattern is extremely unique and no one makes a cushioned pin box for it.

The only option to replace a Turning Point pin box is with a gooseneck adapter like the Gen-Y Hitch item # GY48GR or item # GY96EQ.

Out of these options, I recommend the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY48GR. This pin box has a torsion flex cushioning system that operates similar to torsion axles. It does an amazing job of absorbing bumps, chucking, and road shock, which provides a smoother ride and significantly less stress on your 5th wheel trailer's frame.

You will also need the Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box item # GY49GR. Safety chains are required for gooseneck connections and they are not included with the pin boxes. These will attach to that cross looking cutout by the Gen-Y logo.

What kind of truck are you pulling your Grand Design with, does it have the factory puck system, and how long is the bed?

@Carl Right on! What kind of 5th wheel or gooseneck setup do you have? With your short bed truck, I highly recommend using some kind of adapter with offset if you go forward with the gooseneck conversion.

@JerredH I have an Andersen Ultimate aluminum hitch in the truck now. I also have a Curt A16 and a Demco adapter for the Ram puck system that I used before and I am considering putting it back in the truck.

@Carl Thanks for the information Carl. If you end up sticking with your Turning point pin box and using the Curt A16 item # C16120, you'll need the Sidewinder Wedge Kit for Curt A16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP31016. If you do go forward with replacing your Turning Point pin box with the Gen-Y item # GY48GR, I highly recommend using the Gen-Y Hitch Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Dodge Ram OEM Puck Systems item # GY83XR. This will attach directly to your puck system and pushes the gooseneck ball back 5" towards your tailgate to give you extra turning clearance. Does your Ram truck have the RamBoxes? If it does you'll need to stick with your Turning Point for the height clearance.

The Gen Y hitch was a direct replacement for my turning point on my 2020 Grand Design 240RL i’ve pulled it around 10,000 miles. Love the hitch can’t even feel the trailer. I’m pulling with an F250 it was easy to install and I think overall a real good purchase I feel like the shock absorption is easier on the trailer frame on bad roads.
