Upgraded Suspension Components for my 2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE

Updated 07/22/2026 | Published 07/14/2026

Question:

I have a 2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE. It has Lippert 3000lb axels and noisey syspension. Can you suggest which wet bolt upgrade kit would work for my trailer? Thanks

Hey Rob,

To upgrade the bolts on your 2021 Grand Design Imagine XLS 21BHE to wet bolts, you will need to measure your current wet bolts. If your current wet bolts are 2-1/4" long, you will use MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR46ZR; if they're 3-1/8" long, you will use MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" Long Shackle Straps # MR76ZR. These kits are great for updating your setup to wet bolts, and they include heavy duty shackles and upgraded brass bushings.

To address the sound of your current suspension setup, I recommend also upgrading your equalizers to an equalizer with a rubber insert that absorbs the shock of the road. The MORryde CRE3000 system is my recommendation for you. Choosing the right one will depend on the frame hanger spread of your trailer. To measure the frame hanger spread, you'll measure from the center hole on the front hanger to the center hole on your back hanger and that measurement will determine which kit is best for you. Compare your measurements to the chart in the "How to Measure to Determine Fit" link below and you'll have the correct kit based on the correlated "wheelbase" column.

33" Wheelbase - # MR89DR
35" Wheelbase - # MR27ZR
42" Wheelbase w/ 10" Equalizer - # MR54AR
42" Wheelbase w/ 14.75" Equalizer - # MR34AR

Between the upgraded suspension hardware and the CRE3000 upgraded equalizers, you'll have a new suspension kit with all new components that will give you a much smoother and quieter ride. Are you upgrading for an upcoming trip or just doing your annual maintenance?

Don’t hesitate to upgrade at all, best money I spent on our fifth wheel. Upgrade the bushing kit as well, money well spent.

@Matt Thanks for the positive feedback! I see you're almost two years into having that kit. Did you do the install yourself? What kind of trailer did you install your kit on?

@JerryB I installed them myself. Took a little time but very easy to install. I had a 2022 Artic Wolfe 291RL, but sadly last month on our way home from Florida, we got rear ended while driving on the interstate. The fifth wheel was a total loss due to the damage.

@Matt Oh man, I hate to hear that! I hope everyone is okay. Do you have your eye on a new camper or are you going to give it some time?

@TomM I agree! Do you use your trailer often? What type of trailer do you have the kit installed on?

@JerryB We full time travel and have a 2019 385GK-R. I replaced the factory equalizers to MoRyde in 2025. After 6 years those factory ones were really worn. I should have replaced them sooner. But I am very happy with the moRyde

@TomM They're definitely a great upgrade, even if you replace a brand new equalizer, but I bet you had a much better ride immediately!

Jerry, Thanks for the info.! I'll be getting these on order in the very near future. Upgrade triggered by last trip noticing just how noisey the suspension was and the lack of any greaspoints on it ( I need this trailer to last so seems like a reasonable first step ) v/r

@RobT Definitely understand that! I think everyone gets to that point eventually. Haha Where was your trip?
