RV Air Conditioner Noise Level

What is the interior noise level compared to the older dometic mach series for my motorhome?

Thanks for your question.

The interior noise level for the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System w/ ADB with Knobs - 13,500 Btu - Ducted/Non-Ducted - R32 # FR95TD is going to approximately 60 decibels. From what I could find, interior noise level, depending on model, of the older Dometic Brisk or Penguin models is going to be approximately 70 decibels.

For reference, 60dB would be like a normal inside conversation between adults while 70dB is more like a running vacuum cleaner indoors so the difference will be easily noticeable.

This is common feedback we receive from folks who switch to a newer unit.

I find the interior noise level to be dame as any AC unit in an RV. I added this as a 2nd unit in my RV and I love it.

@ChuckB I don’t expect AC units to be whisper quiet. I expect them to keep my trailer nice and cool and this unit does exactly that. It’s not overly load and it’s not whisper quiet. It’s basically like a fan running.

Agree, no notable difference from prior models in regard to interior noise level. It uses a simple conventional 3 speed squirrel cage blower motor. Until VFDs or EC plug fans become common its what we're stuck with. I will say the unit is considerably quieter than some of the cheaper models (even newer ones) from the outside of the RV. Most of the noise is from the exterior component of the squirrel cage but it is well buffered by the clamshell insulation. The compressor (also conventional) is pretty quiet as well. Not particularly intrusive on shore power. Indistinguishable on generator.
